Rules

Non Divisional

  • Competitors will have 45 minutes (unless otherwise noted – see daily schedule) to complete one hand with products you supply or with what you are given prior to the start of the competition. (Unless otherwise noted – see daily schedule)
  • All nail extensions must only be professional products.
  • Models nails may already have color applied prior to the start of the competition. You may have a different color on each nail, but it must be a solid flat color, no glitter, no shimmer.  NO ART WHAT SO EVER IS ALLOWED PRIOR.
  • All Chrome type products are allowed but must be applied AFTER the competition starts. Chrome may only be used on the surface of the nail enhancement. No raised surfaces prior to the competition. Nail must be smooth. No holes may be in the nail extensions prior to the competition. You may drill holes in nail extensions once the competition begins.
  • The model’s may not have art or embellishments on their nails prior to the start of the competition.
  • There is no preferred length or shape.
  • Cleansing products (soaps, etc.) and moisturizing products (oils, creams, lotions, etc.) are allowed. Excessive use of oil is not permitted.  It will be at the judge’s discretion to deduct points for excess oil.
  • Once you have been given your stones, you will have 15 minutes for pre stone work before the competition begins. This is the only pre-work allowed. You may not attach anything to the nail until the competition begins.
  • When attaching stones, building a base and or prework all products used must be clear.
  • No stones other than what is provided. You may not add additional stones at any point.
  • Top coat, UV gel sealant may be used.
  • It’s All About The Bling! Embellishment will be judged in the following categories: originality, cleanliness of application, design, workmanship, and balance, amount of bling, visual interest, shape, complexity, brightness, detail and overall impression.
  • Any It’s All About The Bling! Nail Art design that wins, or has already won, first place at a NAILPRO competition cannot be reused by the winner or copied by other competitors in subsequent NAILPRO competitions. The NAILPRO competition staff reserves the right to disqualify any design it considers too similar to a winning design. Any discussion with the NAILPRO competition staff about designs will be held in strict confidence.

Judging criteria

Judge 1

Originality – 5 Points

  • the design is innovative (new and original)
  • the design is unique (different from other designs we have seen in the past)

Cleanliness of Application – 10 Points

  • the design is neat and clean
  • the application is glue free
  • the cuticles are free from design and glue

Design– 10 Points

  • the design is well thought out
  • the detail of design is clean and precise
  • the design has adequate detail

Workmanship – 10 Points

  • the overall quality of the work demonstrates outstanding artistic skills
  • the workmanship is neat, clean and precise

Judge 2

Balance – 5 Points

  • various elements of the design are well-balanced, neither too sparse or too busy
  • the sum of the design is in harmony with the parts of the whole design

Creativity – 10 Points

  • the design is well thoughout
  • the elements are used well
  • the elements are used in a unique and different way

Visual Interest – 10 Points

  • the design captures your attention
  • the design holds your attention

Shape – 5 Points

  • the shape is symmetrical and consistent individually
  • the shape is symmetrical and consistent together as a set

Judge 3

Complexity – 10 Points

  • the design is challenging, demanding skill and effort
  • the design involves multiple techniques

Brightness – 10 Points

  • the elements enhance the design
  • the design is bright and clean

Detail – 5 Points

  • the detail clarifies the design, adding dimension
  • the design has adequate detail

Overall Impression – 10 Points

  • the design makes an excellent overall impression
  • the design is complete and needs no improvement
  • this design is presented within the guidelines of the IAB rules
